Infection control FAQ
An infection is a process in which the body is violated by bacteria, viruses, fungi or other organisms that attach themselves to cells, and multiply. To achieve this, they must overcome and evade the body's natural defences.
Stopping the spread of infection depends greatly on the infection itself. The following is a list of practices that may reduce or slow the spread of any infections such as colds or flu. These include:
1) Washing hands frequently (hand hygiene)
2) Limit spread of illness by staying home if sick
3) Use single-use tissues if you sneeze or cough. Dispose of the tissue immediately
4) Wash hands after coughing, sneezing or using tissues
5) Use appropriate vaccine if possible
6) Clean surfaces regularly
7) Do not share cups, glasses, dishes, cutlery or towels, hand towels or flannels
8) Using personal protective equipment to prevent body fluid spillage
It is the responsibility of all in the workplace to take measures to prevent and control the spread of infection. This includes minimising risk and taking precautions to protect themselves and other staff, visitors and individuals from infections. Both employees and employers have a duty of care to each other. Legislation and regulations are in place to ensure a safe environment for those that work there. This includes the Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA), the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and the Reporting of Injury, Disease and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR). It is very important that all in the workplace have an understanding of their responsibility to others and these requirements.

Do courses expire?
There is no expiry date on course credits. Once a credit has been bought it can be allocated at any time. However, should the credit have been allocated to the delegate, each learner then has 12 months to complete the course.
In other words, unallocated course credits have no expiry date. If for example you ordered 1000 licences, and allocated 600 courses in year 1, you would have 400 licences left to allocate in year 2.
